"Famous People". Unit 12

 We are singers and actors


Lesson 1 (Warmer). Driving question. What does music mean to you?

Lesson 1. Activity 1. Music and me. Fill the template, then, read your answers in front of yours team members.

Lesson 1. Activity 2. Scavenger Hunt. Complete these musical aspects by asking some musical questions to your classmates.

 Lesson 3. Activity 3. Musical chairs writing. Children write about music and their famous artist, when music stops, they change the chair and write on their classmate’s story.

Lesson 1 (Conclusion). Dancing on paper. Teacher prepares equal sized sheets of newspaper. Students split into pairs. Each pai is given a newspaper. They dance while the teacher plays the music, but when the music stops, they must stand on their sheet of newspaper. The next time the music stops, the pair has to fold their paper or cloth in half before standing on it. After several rounds the newspaper is very small. Pairs that have any part of their body on the floor are “out” of the game.

Lesson 2 (Warmer). Favourite Music. Learners write on a piece of paper his/her favourite type of music and why (keep the paper during all the lesson).

Lesson 2. Activity 1. Guess the type of music. Classical /Rock/Pop/Jazz/Flamenco. 

Lesson 2. Activity 2. Searching Music. Working in groups of five, learners look for information (ICT, Chromebook) about the type of music given.

Lesson 2. Activity 3. Music Taboo. Get a paper, describe that word, be careful, do not say those words, other groups try to guess it.

Lesson 2 (Conclusion). Find someone who... Find someone that likes the same type of music as you wrote on your paper and ask him/her why, then, write her/his name on your paper and the reason/s she/he has given to you.

Lesson 3. (Warmer). Murcia. Teacher projects the video we sent to our Ireland classmates, just to remember it and start thinking about the questions they are going to make them.

Lesson 3. The Day of the Region of Murcia. Activity 1. eTwinning. Students sent a video to their Irish classmates which showed Murcia and its charms, they ask them some questions about the Region, foreign learners answer them in a video call.

Lesson 3. Activity 2. Actors and singers from Murcia. Each group has a character, they may describe the character provided, they can use their Chromebooks to look for information.

Lesson 3 (Conclusion). Jota Challenge. Students record themselves dancing this typical Murcia’s dance, teacher creates a video and she sends it to the Irish classmates proposing them a challenge: dance their typical Irish dance.

Lesson 4 (Warmer). Brainstorm. In groups,  learners complete the following template.
Lesson 4. Final Grammar Project. Activity 1. Song Competition. Working in groups, learners try to get as many points as they can by doing some tasks related to the grammar, they have learned during all the projects, the group with the highest number of points get a thread. Few choices for the pupil with (Autism Spectrum Disorder).




Lesson 4 (Conclusion). Videoclip. Complete the following template with an interesting and short story.
                       

Lesson 5 (Warmer). Mime a lie. Everyone stands in a circle. The teacher starts by miming an action, when the learner on the right says their name and asks “What are you doing?”, they reply that they are doing something completely different: i.e.: the student mimes “SWIMMING” and says “I am washing my hair”. The kid who is on the right must do the action that the other student said.

Lesson 5. Activity 1. Speaking Record Time Project. Five groups, teacher prepares twenty-five questions about singers and actors and all the grammar learned along the year course. The teacher numbers the groups (number 1 asks group number 2 and the like). Groups have ten cards (potions and spells with cons and pros), they can use them against a team.  The game finishes when one team gets five points. The group that has been talking in English the most will get more clues to discover the hidden character, ten points for Class Dojo.



Lesson 5 (Conclusion). Talking Object. Students sit in a circle. An object is passed around the circle. The learner who receives the object has to talk continuously until his/her neighbour decides to take the object.

Lesson 6. Singer Description. One student gets a picture of a singer, then, he/she tries to describe him/her and the rest of students try to guess it.

Lesson 6. Activity 1. Listen and match. Groups have a template with different countries, they listen to some music and try to recognise them. 


Lesson 6. Activity 2. Country Music. Every team has a typical country’s music (Korea: K-Pop, Spain: Flamenco, Mexico: Ranchera, Cuba: Mambo and Germany: Krantrock), pupils investigate about the music (origin, costumes…), at the end of the class, explain it to their classmates.

Lesson 6 (Conclusion). Country Dance. Each group tries to imitate some steps related to their country dance.

Lesson 7 (Warmer). SloganBefore to record a film, actors create a chant to promote the film and the say aloud.

Lesson 7. Activity 1. Write your film short. In groups, recreate a small piece of a specific film. Teacher hands out the film and the roles (five learners: two film director, two main players, film recorder and lighting technician), apart from these characters, all the members of the group write the film scripts following the teacher's intructions about the beginning, development and end.

Lesson 7. Activity 2. Record your film short. Once learners have written the plot, they record the short film by using Chromebooks.

Lesson 7 (Conclusion). Find the actor/actress. Roles for students.

Using structures like: are you…? No, I´m not or Yes I´m.

Learners try to find the character that is written on his/her paper, every student has a card like this one.

Lesson 8 (Warmer). Invitation. Learners realise and invitation to the End of the year award to every person they want to come and watch them (family, friends…)

Lesson 8. Activity 1. Final Task: End Of the year Award. Every group is nominated (best film, actor, actress, screenplay and sound/lighting) they speak for ten minutes saying thank you and describing their work (cons to record or write the film and easy parts). Parents are invited to this act. (Surveys have been sent to select the winner through the school (Google Forms), other students have seen the film shorts and chosen the winners).

Lesson 8 (Conclusion). Awards. Every student gets an award of their job during this course (All awards are personalised according to their job, effort…)
